AutoZone – Knox County: June 2011

Engineer: Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon

Contractor: McKinney Excavating

The Project:

This AutoZone store is positioned on a small piece of land at the corner of Lovell Road and Kingston Pike.  This site was SO small that there was not a place to detain storm water above ground.  In today’s market, this is a common occurrence.  When this happens, the owner and engineer can turn to us to provide assistance with options for Underground Detention.

On this particular project, the most cost effective option was to use a  Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) underground detention system.  CMP systems have been used for many years and is a common practice in East Tennessee.  60″ diameter, Aluminized CMP was used in this system.  The Aluminization coating on the CMP has added years to the life expectancy over the traditional Galvanized coating and has become a staple in underground detention.
